Welcome To "Happy Paws" Pet Massage / Bodywork

My name is Brent and I started this company based on personal experiences with my own pets.  A few years back my deaf Dalmation (Cozmyk) was hit by a speeding car.  Miraculously suffering what appeared to be only a few abrasions.  After nursing her though some shock trauma over a few days, things returned to normal in our lives.  A few months later Cozmyk suffered a CVA (stroke).  There was nothing the vet could do.  I began my own rehabilitation treatment for Cozmyk assisting her with maneuvering through our home with touch guidance cues on her left side to compensate for her now left eye blindness.  The training worked well, minimizing walking in never-ending circles or into walls, furniture, etc.  Cozmyk eventually passed away.  My experience story does not end here.

Our family's German Shepherd (Haley) has always loved to run, catch frisbees and even bounce balloons off her nose (while attempting to pop them, of course).  This high level of activity came to an end a few months ago when we noticed an abnormal gait pattern setting in.  Yes.......Hip Dysplasia.  Myself, having an extensive medical background in Massage Therapy, Personal Training & Exercise Physiology knew I could not cure Haley's ailment.  However, I took all of my knowledge, including cousework in Pet Massage I completed years earlier and began a treatment program for Haley.  At first Haley was resistive until she understood my "intention".  Then the connection was made.  During the early stages, Haley knew at bedtime that there was only one way she could make it upstairs to bed.  Haley would wait at the base of the stairs, look over her shoulder to get my attention until I performed her massage session, allowing her to successfully walk upstairs.  Haley's symtoms slowly progressed so I began performing gentle range of motion exercises along with specific stretches.  To my suprise, Haley's walking would improve for several hours and she would be very playful.  I took this as a "SIGN" of where my life needed to go from here.........Thus, the birth of "Happy Paws".
